1. About these Terms
These Terms of Membership and Sale (“Terms”) govern applications for, access to and use of Sapphic Sphere and the purchase of Sapphic Sphere membership subscriptions and related services.
Sapphic Sphere is operated by The Big Small Talk LLC, a United States limited liability company, trading as Sapphic Sphere (“Sapphic Sphere”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By completing the membership process and accepting these Terms, you enter into a contract with The Big Small Talk LLC.
Our contact details are:

Email: support@sapphicsphere.com
Privacy: privacy@sapphicsphere.com
Sapphic Sphere is a selective membership community. Submission of an application does not guarantee admission.
2. Documents forming your membership agreement
Your agreement with Sapphic Sphere consists of:
- these Terms of Membership and Sale;
- the Membership Eligibility and Admission Policy;
- the Community Standards, Safety, Reporting and Appeals Policy;
- the Privacy Notice;
- any pricing, trial and subscription information shown immediately before purchase;
- any event-specific or service-specific terms presented before purchase; and
- any territory-specific terms expressly identified as applying to you.
Mandatory applicable law takes priority over these documents where that law cannot lawfully be excluded or waived.
3. The purpose of Sapphic Sphere
Sapphic Sphere is a private, selective membership community created primarily to facilitate friendship, conversation, shared interests, events, learning, mutual support, social connection, personal and professional networking and community life among adult lesbian and bisexual women who satisfy the Membership Eligibility and Admission Policy.
Sapphic Sphere is not a general public social network or general LGBTQ membership service.
Sapphic Sphere is not an online dating service or matchmaking service.
Sapphic Sphere does not:
- match members for romantic or sexual compatibility;
- operate swipe-style dating functionality;
- recommend romantic partners;
- broker introductions for the purpose of dating;
- provide professional matchmaking services; or
- represent that membership will result in a romantic relationship.
Members may naturally become friends or form personal relationships through ordinary community participation.
The eligibility criteria and definitions used for membership are contained in the Membership Eligibility and Admission Policy.
4. Age requirement
Sapphic Sphere is for adults aged 18 or over.
You must be at least 18 to:
- apply for membership;
- create or use a member account;
- purchase membership;
- participate in members-only spaces;
- send or receive private member communications; or
- attend members-only Sapphic Sphere events.
We may require age verification.
5. Territory availability
Membership is available only in countries, territories and, where relevant, US states in which Sapphic Sphere currently accepts members.
Sapphic Sphere maintains an internal Territorial Availability & Legal Review Register.
The location options presented during registration determine where applications are currently accepted.
You must provide your genuine ordinary place of residence and must not use a false address, VPN, proxy service or similar method for the purpose of circumventing territorial restrictions.
We may introduce, restrict or suspend membership in a territory where reasonably necessary because of legal, regulatory, payment, verification, insurance, safety or operational requirements.
6. Eligibility for membership
Membership is subject at all times to the Membership Eligibility and Admission Policy.
You must meet the eligibility requirements when you apply and, where applicable, throughout membership.
Membership is personal and non-transferable.
You must not:
- allow another person to use your member account;
- create an account for another person;
- knowingly provide materially false eligibility information;
- transfer membership to another person;
- impersonate another applicant or member; or
- assist another person in circumventing the admission process.
A material false declaration may result in rejection or termination, subject to the applicable review and appeals process.
7. Application and admission
Applying for membership does not itself create a paid membership contract.
The normal process is:
- you review the eligibility requirements;
- you submit an application;
- you complete required age or identity verification;
- Sapphic Sphere reviews your application;
- your application is accepted, declined, waitlisted or held for clarification;
- if accepted, you are invited to select or confirm a membership plan;
- you are shown the price, trial, renewal and cancellation terms;
- you expressly agree to the applicable subscription terms; and
- your membership and any applicable trial begin.
Payment does not override the admission requirements.
Where practical, no membership subscription payment will be collected until an applicant has been accepted.
8. Identity and eligibility verification
We may use an independent verification provider to assist with age, identity, document-authenticity and fraud checks.
Identity verification and eligibility assessment are separate processes.
You agree to provide reasonable cooperation with proportionate verification requests.
Sapphic Sphere will not routinely require intimate photographs, physical examinations, genetic testing, evidence of sexual activity or unnecessarily intrusive medical information.
Further details are contained in the Membership Eligibility and Admission Policy and Privacy Notice.
9. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
You must:
- provide accurate registration information;
- keep login credentials confidential;
- use appropriate account-security measures;
- notify us promptly if your account may have been compromised; and
- ensure that only you access your account.
We may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, impersonation, account compromise or serious safety concerns.
10. Membership services
Depending on the plan and stage of development, membership may include access to:
- activity feeds and discussions;
- member profiles;
- messaging;
- interest and community groups;
- friendship and social connection;
- personal and professional networking;
- online and in-person events;
- audio or video activities;
- resources;
- workshops and courses;
- directories;
- member-created content; and
- other community features introduced from time to time.
The services included in your particular plan are those displayed when you subscribe.
Not every feature is guaranteed to be available in every territory, on every plan, at every time or on every device.
Membership does not guarantee friendships, personal relationships, employment, commercial opportunities or any particular social outcome.
PAYMENT, TRIALS AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
11. Membership prices
The applicable membership price will be displayed before purchase.
Before you subscribe, we will tell you clearly:
- the membership plan;
- the price;
- billing currency;
- billing frequency;
- applicable taxes where known;
- trial duration;
- when your first payment will be taken;
- whether membership renews automatically;
- the renewal price;
- when subsequent payments are due; and
- how to cancel.
The information shown immediately before purchase forms part of your membership contract.
12. Payment
Payments may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified during checkout.
You authorise the relevant payment provider to charge your selected payment method in accordance with the subscription information presented before purchase.
Sapphic Sphere does not normally receive or store your complete payment-card details where an independent payment processor handles the transaction.
If a payment fails, we may:
- notify you;
- request updated payment details;
- retry payment where lawfully permitted;
- provide a reasonable grace period; or
- suspend paid access until payment is resolved.
We will not knowingly continue charging a membership after a valid cancellation has become effective.
13. Taxes
Prices will indicate whether applicable taxes are included.
Where Sapphic Sphere or its payment provider is legally required to collect VAT, sales tax or another transaction tax, that amount may be added unless the displayed price expressly states that taxes are included.
THREE-DAY FREE TRIAL
14. Standard three-day free trial
Where offered, new members may receive a three-day free trial.
The precise start and end time of the trial will be displayed before you activate it and confirmed to you electronically.
Before the trial begins, we will tell you:
- that the trial lasts three days;
- the membership plan that follows it;
- the amount you will be charged after the trial;
- the date or time the first payment is due;
- the billing frequency;
- whether membership automatically renews; and
- how to cancel before being charged.
Unless otherwise stated, the trial automatically converts into the selected paid membership if you do not cancel before the stated trial deadline.
You must expressly agree to that conversion.
No checkbox authorising recurring payment will be pre-selected for you.
14.1 Cancelling during the free trial
You may cancel the subscription at any point before the trial deadline.
If you validly cancel before the first paid period begins:
- no first membership subscription payment will be taken; and
- your membership access may end at the end of the trial or earlier if you request account deletion.
14.2 Trial eligibility
Unless otherwise stated, a free trial is available once per eligible person.
We may use reasonable measures to prevent repeated trial abuse, including checks relating to verified identity, account history or payment credentials.
Creating additional accounts or using another person’s details to obtain repeated trials is prohibited.
AUTOMATIC RENEWAL AND ORDINARY CANCELLATION
15. Automatic renewal
Unless stated otherwise before purchase, paid membership operates as an automatically renewing subscription.
For example:
- monthly membership renews monthly;
- quarterly membership renews every three months; and
- annual membership renews annually.
Automatic renewal applies only where it was clearly disclosed before subscription and you authorised the recurring payment arrangement.
16. Cancelling future renewal
You may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the next renewal payment becomes due.
Cancellation will be made reasonably straightforward and will normally be available:
- within your account;
- through the subscription-management system;
- through an applicable app store; or
- through another clearly identified electronic method.
After cancellation, you will normally retain access until the end of the period for which you have already paid.
We will provide confirmation of cancellation in a form you can retain.
Cancellation of future renewal does not automatically entitle you to a refund for an already commenced paid period unless:
- these Terms expressly provide one; or
- applicable law requires one.
UNITED KINGDOM CONSUMERS
17. Statutory UK 14-day cancellation right
This section applies only where UK consumer law gives you a statutory cancellation right. It does not create a 14-day contractual cancellation right for members in other countries.
If you enter into your Sapphic Sphere membership contract online as a UK consumer, you will normally have a statutory right to cancel the service contract without giving a reason during the applicable 14-day cancellation period.
The period normally begins when the membership contract is entered into.
Where your membership begins with a three-day free trial, that free-trial period runs within the statutory cancellation period. It does not create a further or additional 14-day free period after the trial.
For example:
- membership contract and free trial begin on Day 0;
- the free trial lasts three days;
- paid membership begins after the trial if not cancelled;
- the statutory cancellation period continues to run according to applicable UK law.
17.1 Starting the service immediately
Sapphic Sphere is an immediately accessible online community.
If you want membership access to begin before the end of your statutory cancellation period, we will ask you expressly to request immediate performance of the membership service.
The request will be separate from ordinary acceptance of these Terms.
17.2 Cancellation during the free part of the 14-day period
If you exercise the statutory cancellation right while your membership remains within the free three-day trial and before a paid membership period begins, no membership subscription payment will be due.
17.3 Cancellation after paid membership has begun but within the statutory period
If:
- you expressly requested that Sapphic Sphere begin providing the service during the statutory cancellation period;
- the three-day free trial has ended;
- paid service has begun; and
- you then exercise your statutory cancellation right before the statutory period expires,
Sapphic Sphere may, where permitted by applicable law, require payment for the service supplied up to the time you informed us of your cancellation.
Any amount charged will be proportionate to the service actually provided during the paid part of the relevant period.
We will not charge for the days expressly offered to you as a free trial.
17.4 Statutory rights prevail
Nothing in these Terms removes or reduces any cancellation right that UK consumer law gives you.
If Sapphic Sphere fails to provide information that the law requires concerning cancellation rights, your legal cancellation period may be affected in the manner prescribed by applicable law.
A model UK cancellation notice appears in Appendix 1.
UNITED STATES CONSUMERS
18. US trial and cancellation terms
This section applies to members ordinarily resident in an approved US state.
Sapphic Sphere does not voluntarily provide US members with the UK statutory 14-day cooling-off right described in section 17.
Unless a federal, state or local law applicable to you provides an additional right:
During the three-day free trial
You may cancel before the stated trial deadline and avoid the first paid membership charge.
After paid membership begins
Once the first paid subscription period has begun:
- you may cancel future automatic renewal at any time before the next renewal charge;
- cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; and
- payments already made are ordinarily non-refundable except where required by applicable law or expressly stated otherwise in these Terms.
State-specific rights
Some US states impose additional requirements concerning:
- automatic-renewal disclosure;
- renewal notices;
- cancellation mechanisms;
- trial-to-paid conversion;
- price changes; or
- refunds.
Where a mandatory law of your state provides greater rights than this section, that law applies.
Any territory-specific information provided to you before purchase forms part of your agreement.
OTHER INTERNATIONAL CONSUMERS
19. Other statutory cancellation rights
Consumers outside the United Kingdom and United States may have mandatory cooling-off, withdrawal, cancellation or renewal rights under the law of their country or territory.
Where Sapphic Sphere accepts membership from such a territory, any mandatory rights will apply notwithstanding these Terms.
Territory-specific information will be provided where necessary.
Sapphic Sphere does not voluntarily extend the UK’s 14-day statutory cancellation regime to territories where it does not legally apply.
REFUNDS
20. Refund policy
20.1 Mandatory legal rights
Nothing in these Terms restricts a refund, price reduction, cancellation right, repeat-performance right or other remedy required by applicable law.
20.2 Cancellation during the three-day free trial
If you cancel before your first paid subscription period begins, no membership subscription charge will be due.
20.3 Ordinary cancellation of an active paid membership
Cancelling future renewal does not ordinarily produce a refund for the current paid period.
You may continue using the service until the end of that period unless your account is separately suspended, terminated or deleted.
20.4 UK statutory cancellation
Where section 17 applies, refunds and any proportionate charge for service already supplied will be dealt with according to applicable UK law.
20.5 US memberships
Unless required by applicable federal or state law or expressly stated otherwise:
- payments for an already commenced subscription period are non-refundable; and
- cancellation stops the next automatic renewal rather than reversing an existing paid period.
20.6 Termination by Sapphic Sphere without member fault
If Sapphic Sphere permanently terminates an active prepaid membership for reasons unrelated to your breach, misconduct, fraud or eligibility and does not provide substantially equivalent access, we will normally provide a proportionate refund for the unused paid period unless applicable law requires a different remedy.
20.7 Incorrect or duplicate charges
If you believe you have been charged incorrectly or twice for the same subscription period, contact us promptly.
21. Renewal reminders
We will issue renewal, trial-ending or subscription notices where required by applicable law.
Sapphic Sphere may provide additional reminders as a matter of good practice.
Any legally required notice will contain the information required for the member’s applicable jurisdiction.
22. Price changes
We may change the price of future subscription periods.
A price change will not retrospectively alter a completed billing period.
Where a new price will affect a future renewal, we will provide reasonable notice and tell you:
- the new price;
- the date on which it becomes effective; and
- how to cancel before the new price is charged.
Where applicable law requires renewed consent or a particular notice period, we will comply with that requirement.
MEMBER CONDUCT AND SAFETY
23. Community Standards
Membership requires compliance with the Community Standards, Safety, Reporting and Appeals Policy.
Members must not use Sapphic Sphere for conduct including:
- threats or violence;
- harassment;
- stalking;
- doxxing;
- impersonation;
- fraud;
- sexual harassment;
- non-consensual intimate imagery;
- unlawful discrimination;
- disclosure of private member information;
- copyright infringement;
- unlawful transactions;
- unauthorised scraping or data harvesting;
- malicious interference with the platform; or
- other unlawful activity.
A selective membership boundary does not permit harassment or abuse of people inside or outside Sapphic Sphere.
24. Member privacy and confidentiality
You must respect other members’ privacy.
Unless you have appropriate permission, you must not:
- publish another member’s private messages;
- publish screenshots from private community areas;
- disclose another member’s identity where she has reasonably kept it private;
- publish another member’s contact details;
- record private calls or events without permission;
- scrape or copy member directories; or
- build external mailing lists or databases from member information.
This does not prevent lawful reporting of suspected crime, safeguarding concerns, regulatory matters or evidence reasonably required to establish or defend legal rights.
No online service can guarantee that another individual will never misuse information. Members should exercise appropriate care when sharing sensitive information or arranging offline meetings.
25. Member Connections and Offline Meetings
Sapphic Sphere enables members to communicate and participate in a shared community.
Members may naturally:
- become friends;
- socialise;
- meet at community activities;
- communicate privately;
- arrange to meet independently; or
- form personal relationships.
These interactions arise from members' own choices.
Sapphic Sphere does not:
- match members for romantic compatibility;
- recommend prospective romantic partners;
- broker dates;
- provide matchmaking;
- certify another member as personally compatible or safe; or
- guarantee the intentions or behaviour of another member.
Members decide independently whether to communicate with, meet or form any personal relationship with another member.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Sapphic Sphere does not conduct comprehensive criminal-record or background checks on every member.
Membership admission or referral does not mean that Sapphic Sphere guarantees another member's:
- character;
- intentions;
- honesty;
- financial circumstances;
- relationship status;
- criminal history; or
- personal safety.
Members should exercise reasonable precautions when arranging to meet another member offline.
Serious safety concerns should be reported to Sapphic Sphere and, where appropriate, to emergency services or law enforcement.
26. Events
Sapphic Sphere may provide online and in-person events.
Individual events may have additional terms regarding matters such as:
- eligibility;
- venue;
- accessibility;
- ticketing;
- refunds;
- capacity;
- conduct;
- photography;
- alcohol; or
- health and safety.
Additional terms for a paid event will be disclosed before booking.
Where an event is independently organised by a member or third party, we will identify the organiser where reasonably practicable.
CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
27. Member-generated content
You retain ownership of original content you create and upload.
By posting content to Sapphic Sphere, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- host;
- store;
- technically reproduce;
- display;
- format;
- transmit;
- moderate; and
- make the content available through Sapphic Sphere,
solely for operating, securing and providing the service and exercising our legal rights and obligations.
You must have the necessary rights to material you upload.
We may restrict, remove or preserve content where reasonably necessary for moderation, safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, evidence preservation or enforcement.
28. Sapphic Sphere intellectual property
The Sapphic Sphere name, logos, visual identity, original site content, designs and proprietary materials belong to The Big Small Talk LLC or its licensors unless otherwise stated.
Sapphic Sphere™ may be used as a trade or service mark while relevant registration remains pending.
Membership gives you no ownership interest in Sapphic Sphere intellectual property.
You may not use our brand in a way that falsely suggests authorisation, endorsement, sponsorship, partnership or ownership.
PLATFORM OPERATION
29. Third-party services
Sapphic Sphere may rely upon third-party providers for:
- community hosting;
- payment processing;
- identity verification;
- communications;
- video services;
- analytics;
- events;
- security; and
- other technical functions.
Where a third party supplies a separate service directly to you, its own terms may also apply.
Personal-data processing involving these providers is addressed in the Privacy Notice.
30. Service availability
We aim to provide Sapphic Sphere with reasonable care and skill.
We cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
Temporary interruptions may arise from maintenance, security incidents, infrastructure failures, upgrades, legal requirements or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may modify or discontinue individual features where reasonably necessary.
Where a change materially reduces a prepaid service, we will provide any remedy required by applicable law.
SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION
31. Suspension
We may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to:
- protect members;
- investigate a serious report;
- investigate fraud or impersonation;
- secure an account;
- comply with law;
- address payment failure;
- preserve evidence; or
- prevent significant harm.
Where circumstances reasonably permit, we will tell you the broad reason for the restriction and the applicable review process.
32. Termination by Sapphic Sphere
We may terminate membership for a material reason, including:
- serious or repeated breach of these Terms;
- serious or repeated breach of Community Standards;
- material misrepresentation during admission;
- fraud;
- deliberate circumvention of eligibility;
- serious safety risks;
- serious privacy violations;
- illegal activity;
- unauthorised account transfer; or
- circumstances in which continuing membership would be unlawful.
Permanent decisions should be proportionate and normally subject to the applicable appeals process.
33. Termination and cancellation by you
You may cancel future subscription renewal as described in section 16.
You may separately request account deletion.
Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are different actions.
Account deletion during an active prepaid period does not by itself create a refund entitlement unless applicable law or these Terms provide one.
PRIVACY AND COMMUNICATIONS
34. Personal information
Our Privacy Notice explains how personal information is collected, used, shared, stored and deleted.
This includes information relating to:
- applications;
- identity verification;
- membership;
- payments;
- safety;
- and, where applicable, sexual orientation.
Acceptance of these Terms is not treated as bundled consent for all personal-data processing.
Where applicable law requires separate explicit consent, Sapphic Sphere will obtain that separately.
35. Marketing
Administrative membership communications are separate from optional marketing communications.
We may send messages reasonably required to administer:
- applications;
- verification;
- membership;
- billing;
- subscriptions;
- security;
- moderation;
- complaints; or
- events.
You may unsubscribe from optional marketing without cancelling your membership.
COMPLAINTS AND LIABILITY
36. Complaints
Complaints concerning membership, billing, verification, moderation, safety, events or the service may be sent to:
Where a separate appeals procedure applies, that procedure should be followed.
Nothing in our internal process prevents you from exercising a non-waivable right to complain to a regulator, consumer authority, data-protection authority or court.
37. Our responsibility to consumers
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful.
Nothing limits or excludes liability for:
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- death or personal injury resulting from negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded;
- mandatory consumer rights; or
- any other liability that applicable law prohibits us from excluding.
Where consumer law applies, we will provide the service to the standard required by that law.
38. Member and third-party conduct
Sapphic Sphere provides a community platform.
It does not automatically endorse statements made by members.
Unless expressly provided as a professional service by an appropriately qualified provider, discussions within Sapphic Sphere do not constitute professional medical, psychological, legal, financial or emergency advice.
Members remain responsible for their own personal decisions and interactions.
Nothing in this section excludes any legal responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
CHANGES AND APPLICABLE LAW
39. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms where reasonably necessary because of:
- changes in law;
- regulatory guidance;
- court decisions;
- new or changed services;
- security requirements;
- payment or verification changes;
- territorial expansion; or
- legitimate operational needs.
For material changes affecting existing paid membership, we will provide reasonable advance notice where required.
Each version will display its effective date and version number.
40. Future UK subscription-law changes
UK subscription law is changing.
Sapphic Sphere will review these Terms before any future statutory subscription regime becomes applicable to its membership services.
If applicable law introduces additional rights concerning:
- cooling-off periods;
- free trials;
- renewal reminders;
- cancellation;
- subscription information; or
- refunds,
those mandatory rights will apply from the relevant commencement date regardless of whether this document has yet been updated.
41. Mandatory local rights
Sapphic Sphere operates only in territories approved for membership.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive a member of a consumer, privacy, equality, subscription or other legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where a provision conflicts with mandatory applicable law, that law prevails to the extent of the conflict.
42. Governing law
England and Wales
For consumers habitually resident in England or Wales, the membership contract is governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights applying to the consumer.
Scotland
For consumers habitually resident in Scotland, applicable Scots law and mandatory consumer protection will apply as required.
United States
For consumers habitually resident in an approved US state, these Terms are governed by applicable federal law and the non-waivable law of the consumer’s state.
Other territories
Applicable governing law or territory-specific provisions will be identified where necessary before membership is sold in another jurisdiction.
No choice-of-law provision is intended to remove mandatory legal protections that would otherwise apply.
43. Courts and disputes
Nothing in these Terms requires a consumer to surrender a non-waivable right to use a court, tribunal or dispute procedure available under applicable law.
Sapphic Sphere does not impose mandatory private arbitration under this version of the Terms.
We encourage the use of our complaints process before litigation where appropriate, but this does not prevent immediate use of another legal remedy where permitted.
44. Transfer of the business
Sapphic Sphere may transfer these Terms as part of a legitimate sale, merger, restructuring or transfer of the Sapphic Sphere business.
Such a transfer will not be used to remove mandatory member rights.
Members may not transfer personal membership to another person.
45. Severability
If a provision is held invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, it will be modified or removed only to the extent necessary.
The remainder of these Terms will continue where legally possible.
46. No waiver
Failure to enforce a provision immediately does not permanently waive our right to enforce it later.
A flexible response to one situation does not require identical treatment of materially different circumstances.
47. Entire agreement
These Terms and the documents incorporated under section 2 form the agreement concerning membership.
Nothing in this section excludes liability for fraud or overrides consumer-law rules that make particular pre-contract information binding.
